How do I take off my makeup?
We'd all like to skip this important part of our daily skin care routine when we're feeling lazy. But you should take off your makeup before bed so that your skin stays clean and looks healthy, so that your skin can "breathe" while you sleep, and so that your mascara and foundation don't get on your pillow. 1. Use a
headband, clips, or a ponytail holder to pull your bangs and long hair back.
2. Use an
eye makeup remover to take off your eye makeup first.
3. Put the
remover on your washcloth or a cotton ball, and gently wipe your eyes, making
sure to get your eyelashes, eyelids, brow line, and the area under your eyes.
4. Use a
Q-tip to get rid of any makeup that you couldn't reach (particularly eye
liner).
5. Use warm
water to rinse.
6. Put your
facial cleanser on your washcloth or directly on your face and neck, and
massage in a circular motion until your whole face and neck are covered in a
nice foamy lather. Make sure not to get any in your eyes.
7. Let the
cleanser work its "magic" on your face and neck for a few minutes.
8. Rinse
your face and neck with warm water and pat them dry with a towel.
9. Before
you go to bed, put a thin layer of moisturizer on your face and neck.
How to Get Makeup and Mascara Off Your Eyes
Do you
remove eye makeup and mascara with lotion, bar soap, or your regular face
cleanser? The skin around your eyes is seven times thinner than the rest of
your face. It should be cleaned gently with a makeup remover that is made to
take care of your eyes. Follow these easy steps to take care of your eyes.
Choose an
eye makeup remover that works well with the rest of your skin. We love
Maybelline's Bi Phase makeup remover to take off lip and eye makeup. If you
tend to get oily, choose a makeup remover that doesn't have oil in it. If you
have sensitive skin look for a makeup remover made for sensitive skin types. A
good product doesn't have to cost a lot. Many drug store brands make very good
makeup removers. Before you clean the rest of your face at night, you should
clean around your eyes first. So, when you wash your whole face, your mascara
will not run into your eyes. Start by reading the directions on your chosen eye
makeup remover. Always use the amount that is told.
Moisten your
eyes a little to wet the mascara. This will help the remover get into the mascara
better. Start with the eyelid. Start at the top and gently wipe from the top
corner to the bottom corner. Clean the corner of your eye. This should leave
some remover on the lid. Wet a cotton ball or round with water and use the same
motion to wipe off any leftover makeup remover. If any of the product is left,
repeat the process with new cotton if necessary. Do second eye now. To get rid
of mascara, put a little bit of makeup remover on a Q-tip. To use remover,
close your eye and roll a Q-tip over your eyelashes in a downward motion. You
can then use a cotton ball or another wet Q-tip to finish the job. Do not
saturate cotton. Glide over lash gently in a downward direction. Depending on
the type of mascara and how many coats you put on, you may need more than one
cotton ball to take it off. Use a small amount of remover on cotton to get rid
of mascara that got under your eye. Now that your eye makeup and mascara are
off, you can finish your nightly skin care routine.
How to Take Off Make-Up
When you put
on foundation in the morning, it goes without saying that you should take it
off before you go to sleep that night. But there is no one way to take off
foundation makeup. What kind of cleaning mixture you need to take off your
foundation depends on what kind of foundation you have on your face.
Water-Based Foundation:
You're in luck if you have
water-based foundation on your face. In this case, you don't need a special
tool to get it off. You don't have to do much to clean up because the
foundation you use is easy to dissolve. With a gentle cleanser that doesn't
contain soap and lukewarm water from the faucet, your foundation makeup will be
a thing of the past in no time.
Oil-based foundation: It's time to pull out the big
guns—in terms of makeup remover. Makeup remover made for oil-based foundations
is the only way to get rid of oil-based foundation. Cleanser and water won't
get you anywhere quickly. Pat the makeup remover onto your face to cover it,
leave it on for the time it says to, and then wipe it off with tissues, cotton
pads, or a soft, clean cloth. Follow up with a toner made for your skin type to
really clean your skin.
Helpful Tools: Keep a gentle cleanser, makeup
remover, and toner in your makeup area. Don't use toners that have alcohol in
them if your skin is dry. Also, keep cotton pads, tissues, or soft, clean
cloths nearby. So you won't have to dig around for things to clean your face.
Being organized will also help you set up a nightly routine that won't take you
more than a few minutes. Extra Advice No matter what, you should always take
off your foundation before you go to bed. Leaving makeup on your face for too
long can really mess up your skin. The layer of dirt, oil, and makeup from the
day before will clog your pores, which can lead to pimples. In a pinch, you can
use a face-cleansing cloth that has already been wet. Just make sure to use a
toner afterward to get rid of all the residue.
